Early Learning Programs Truganina

Letterland is a phonics-based scheme for learning to read that uses the actual sounds letters make in words. It’s designed to make learning letter sounds fun and give letters good reasons for behaving the way they do.

For example, instead of explaining that C is the letter cee, for example, we tell your child that Clever Cat makes her special whispered ‘c…’ sound in words like cat, cup, and cake—that and Harry Hat Man whispers ‘hhh’ in words because he hates noise.

Sounds way more fun than simply remembering that ‘aitch’ makes the sound ‘hhh’, right?

Letterland is also designed to help your child with writing. Simple verses set to music in the Letterland Handwriting Songs Cassette or CD explain how to form each letter correctly, using clever clues to help your child tell letters that look alike apart.

An example would be:

1. Draw Dippy Duck’s back.

2. Go round her tum.

3. Go up to her head

4. And down you come.
